On the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel (1508-1512) Michelangelo, the “Genius of the Italian Renaissance”, and inspiration for all artists in the past 500 years, uniquely fuses together  the classic and the modern, the sacred and the heathen. In my eyes the Ignudi ("nudes") in particular represent what Michelangelo himself declares in Francisco de Hollanda  book - De Pintura Antiga-Dialoghi Romani: "The man is the representation of the real Art, because it is made in the image and likeness of God."
